💀🚨dangerous bill being mascaraed as "parental rights".

SB143- Anti-Parental rights bill's goal isn't to protect your fundamental parental rights, but to give you a way to sue the gov't AFTER your rights are violated.

Worse yet, the next time someone decides there is a compelling governmental interest, your parental rights can be trampled, in the "least restrictive means."

Like a mask? Vaccine? Quarantine?

I met with those pushing for this bill and was able to ask pointed questions.

They admitted that they did not take into account how this would impact vaccination rights.
They admitted that they did not have a case example of how this had helped a SINGLE family in other states.
They admitted in committee that language passed in other states had not lead to an increase in litigation.
They even admitted that this language had not had a "chilling effect" or changed the behavior of stat agencies who were committing the offenses this bill is designed to stop.

So HOW has this languages helped anyone?

Are you willing to risk your parental rights for "compelling governmental interests" for no benefit?

I am not.

SB143 was heard in the House Judiciary Committee and passed 10-3. Unfortunately this dangerous bill will move on to 2nd reading as early as Thursday.

At the close of the committee hearing Senator Liz Brown (Ft. Wayne) got up and stated "We know parents are the primary care givers."

Does Liz really think you are just your children's "caregiver"?

Do caregivers get to make the decisions about health, religion, medical care and education?

NO.
PARENTS DO.

Brown and the other legislators need a clear message- PARENTAL RIGHTS ARE NOT SECONDARY to a compelling governmental interest.

Hoosiers want to PREVENT the violation of rights, not simply be able to litigate AFTER the fact.

Proponents of the bill tell use that this will reduce violations of parenental rights while in the same breath explain how current laws are being ignored.

Who in their right mind would believe that those who don't obey the law are going to suddenly start when a new one is instituted?

Their response might include statements about why the application of "strict scrutiny" is so important and how being able to sue the government will change these issues.

WRONG. The taxpayers will be paying the penalties for the actions of people who break the law, violate parental rights and are being paid salaries by--- THE TAX PAYERS.

Can someone please pinch me, wake me up from this nightmare- NONE OF THIS MAKES SENSE.

Schools cant find and keep good teachers.
DCS can't find and keep good social workers- and the ones they do have are over worked, under qualified, or underpaid.

Worst of all, rouge teachers/DCS employees are NOT going to care if your tax dollars are wasted on litigation so long as their agenda is being carried out.

Litigation is not going to fix this problem.

Adding insult to injury, this language tells the court system AND those violating parental rights HOW to explain how their actions were necessary as it relates to a compelling governmental interest.

Finally, today- legislators added salt to the wound by removing the requirement for the state to carry burden of proof that they did not violate the parental rights. Burden of proof will now rest squarely on the shoulders of the parents whose rights were violated.
