Have you faced discrimination based on your vaccination status?
Just as we feared vaccine mandates have arrived. Some are obvious and others are a little more subtle. Either way, the rights of Hoosiers are being violated. This all could have been prevented if the Legislature would have heeded our warning and passed SB74 or any of the many amendments calling for TRUE immunity passport purge.
We get daily reports from across the state because citizens fear for their jobs, education, and free movement. Some employers are segregating and discriminating against anyone who has not received a covid vaccine. Vaccinated individuals are given status symbols likened to badges of honor, whereas vaccinated are marked with shame, ridiculed, and considered selfish. We hear descriptions reminiscent of yellow stars prior to the start of World War II.
Groups of employees willing to show proof of vaccination are allowed special privilege such additional paid time off, health status points, bonuses, mingling freely, going without masks, and bypassing testing. While those who decline the vaccination are penalized due to health status and religious beliefs. Facing financial injury such as testing and mandated quarantine time at the expense of the employee.
Employers recognize that this sort of action is creating issues within the workplace, releasing statements including, “Please show respect to your coworkers regardless of their vaccination status.” Others could care less, almost inciting discord between employees calling for the “encouragement and education of those who are hesitant.”
Institutions of higher education are also subjecting students to the same discrimination as employers. One letter explaining that mitigation testing will be at the expense of the student and a $50 fee will be applied for each day that the student quarantines within the school’s hotel, in addition to normal room and board. Penalties for quarantine could amount to $700 per instance. All of this without any regard to the possibility of naturally acquired immunity and low risk to the student’s health with infection.

It is past time to dismantle discrimination as the result of an individual’s health status.
Hoosiers, we will NOT relent.
