Foster Care & Adoption: Stop Discrimination
The foster care system in Indiana is overwhelmed and overloaded.
What if I told you that we have an opportunity to connect children with loving foster homes and adoptive families around the state?
Just the promise of opening homes to children in need is remarkable, but with Roe V. Wade being overturned, this topic has quickly heated up, and the legislature is considering massive funding to support adoption.
There are two significant problems that the legislature has neglected to recognize. First, not all children in the foster care system are eligible for adoption.

There are two significant problems that the legislature has neglected to recognize. First, not all children in the foster care system are eligible for adoption.
AND, an entire group of loving families ready to welcome children are being rejected.
Poorly written regulations are denying loving, capable families the opportunity to provide safe, secure homes for children within the foster care system due solely to their vaccination status.
Nurturing parents have proceeded through the licensing process only to be deemed unfit on the last home visit as a result of this discriminatory practice.
These families were excluded from fulfilling their higher calling due to deeply held religious beliefs that prevent them from vaccinating their biological children.
If given the opportunity, these families will provide security in every aspect of well-being including physical, emotional, financial, and mental stability.
Instead, they are being forced to choose between following their religion regarding vaccination and welcoming additional children into their family.
It is a disgrace that doting homes are prohibited from opening their hearts to children in desperate need.
We must ensure families are given the opportunity to embrace children in the foster care system.
Discrimination based on vaccination status is not acceptable.
We must change this.
