Download the COUNTY COMMISSIONERS SHEET here, or if you are a COUNTY HEALTH COMMISSIONER here.
You may also want to start gathering information on:
- What is the total amount budgeted for the Local health Department?
- What percent or amount comes from Indiana Department of Health?
- What percent or amount comes from State Grants?
- What percent or amount comes from Federal Grants?
- Is there any other amount not covered by the county?
- How much (percent) of your current county budget is allocated to Public Health and how would that change if you no longer received state directed funding or grants?
When will the votes take place?
We don't know, the GPHC did not share information about how it would be meeting with county commissioners. Some Counties have already had visits.
Final recommendations have been completed and the report can be found on the website. The Governor's office will review, make changes, and send it to the legislature to be added to the budget in 2023. We are fairly certain that the legislature WILL be voting on this during legislative season starting January 2023.
The topic was brought up during 2022 special session and the committee chair stated that they were not ready to address the GPHC recommendations. This shows that at least part of the legislature is aware of the commission and it's goals.
GPHC did report in the June meeting that they wanted to get county commissioner buy in prior to the "battle" in the legislature. We can only assume that they will be expanding their outreach in the coming months. From their own admission they have already met with officials in Bloomington (Monroe County) twice.

Follow the money.
Watching where the money comes from, and where it goes can be very telling.
